Term 3, 2025 – Friday morning Pottery 📅 25 July - 26 September (10 sessions) ⏰ Thursdays, 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM 🏺 R4650 or pay in 2 instalments of R2465 Our welcoming, community-centered studio is a space to explore your passion for pottery while building meaningful connections. Whether you're a curious beginner or a seasoned clay enthusiast, our mixed-level classes provide the perfect environment to grow your skills with expert guidance from Val. ✨ CHOOSE YOUR CLAY PATH: HAND BUILDING: - Perfect for beginners with satisfying results from your very first class - Explore techniques including pinch pots, coiling, and slab building - Creative freedom with many possibilities for shapes and designs - 10 spaces available at the hand-building tables WHEEL THROWING: - A rewarding but challenging skill that requires patience and practice - Most beginners need 3-4 sessions to develop basic centering skills - Expect a learning curve - many find it helpful to start with hand building - Limited to 8 wheels per class - early booking recommended BEGINNERS' NOTE: We recommend starting with hand building for your first 4 lessons before moving to the wheel. This builds confidence and clay familiarity. ✨ What's Included: - Freedom to move between hand-building and wheel techniques - Inclusive fee covering firing, underglazes & access to our dip-glaze library - 90cm private shelf for work-in-progress - 5kg of clay per term (extra available at a student discount) 🏺 Class Flow & Demos (7:00–7:30 PM): Each week builds on skills from previous sessions: 1️⃣ Welcome, wedging demo, pinch pots 2️⃣ Joining pinch pots to make a vase 3️⃣ Coiling techniques 4️⃣ Slab-built vessels 5️⃣ Throwing cylinders on the wheel (first wheel instruction) 6️⃣ Glazing & trimming cylinders 7️⃣ Throwing bowl forms (advanced: wider forms) 8️⃣ Greenware decorating & glazing 9️⃣ Final glazing 🔟 End-of-term festivities! Let's create together! 🎨✨ ------------------------------ 📢 Studio Guidelines: - Respect & Creativity: A safe, non-judgmental space to explore, learn & play - Catch-ups: Must be scheduled within the term—please give 24 hours' notice if missing a class - Storage: Items are kept for 2 months after you leave - Refunds: No refunds within 5 business days of term start unless we fill your spot - Parking & Security: Roger, our friendly security guard, will help you park on Victoria Road and walk you to/from your car

Cancellation Policy
Enrollment in workshops, classes and courses is limited. • If notice of cancellation is received more than 5 days before the workshop/class/course the fee will be refunded • Refunds will not be issued for cancellations received less than 4 business days before the program begins unless that space can be filled. NO REFUND is issued in the event you cancel or do not show up on the start date. • In the event of emergency/illness, send an alternative person in your place. mail us the name and email address of that person. Alternatively, if notice is given and there is a person on a waiting list that can fill your space a full refund will be given. • Classes, courses and series requires a weekly commitment for a number of consecutive weeks. Catch-ups cannot be accommodated for foundation courses as too much will be missed out. Check dates carefully. • Clay Hands reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a workshop/class/course due to low enrolment or other unforeseen circumstances.
