Learn to throw on the potters wheel with our comprehensive foundations class. With ample guided practice time on the wheel, you'll gain confidence and proficiency in forming shapes with clay over the 10 week program. Learn to wedge, throw and trim cylinders, master the intricacies of crafting beautiful bowl forms, learn to pull and attach handles, and bring your creations to life with finishing and glazing. Our experienced instructor, Jomari (Umi), will be there every step of the way, providing guidance and personalized feedback to help you refine your craftsmanship. By the end of this class, you'll have a solid foundation in wheel throwing and be equipped with the skills to create stunning pottery pieces. > 16 April - 18 June > 10 consecutive weeks with sessions every Thursday evening 18:00 - 21:00 > Become familiar with some of the foundational wheel throwing techniques required for forming shapes on the wheel: • wedging • throwing and trimming cylinders • bowl forms • pulling handles • vase forms • recycling clay • and glazing > Class is for a group of 8 > Two catch-up class offered ✨ What’s Included • Firing, underglazes & full access to our dip-glaze library • 90cm shelf for work-in-progress • 5kg clay per term (extra available at student rates) ⸻ ✨ How Payment Works: • You can now book your place using Payflex which lets you split your fee into smaller, interest free payments. • Prefer to pay upfront. Simply select the once off fee at checkout and you are all set. ⸻ 📢 Studio Guidelines • Respect & Creativity: A safe, non-judgmental space to learn & play • Catch-ups: Within the same term, with 24h notice if missing class • Storage: Work kept for 2 months after you leave • Refunds: No refunds within 5 business days of term start (unless we fill your spot) • Parking & Security: Roger, our friendly guard, will guide you on Victoria Road and walk you to/from your car

Cancellation Policy

• If notice of cancellation is received more than 5 days before the workshop, class, or course, your fee will be refunded less a 10% cancellation fee. • Refunds will not be issued for cancellations made less than 4 business days before the program begins, unless the space can be filled. • No refund is issued if you cancel or do not show up on the start date. • In the event of illness or emergency, you’re welcome to send someone in your place. Please email their name and contact details to info@clayhands.co.za before the session. • Clay Hands reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a workshop, class, or course due to low enrolment or unforeseen circumstances. Should this happen, you’ll be notified by email or phone at least 4 business days in advance and receive a full refund.
