Clay Hands is a dynamic makers sanctuary and creative facilitation space dedicated to sharing the love of clay. Situated in the hidden courtyard of 196 Victoria in Cape Town. Our classes range from beginner to advanced in hand building and wheel work. Our facilitators are passionate about the craft and helping our students learn the art of clay. We strive to create a homely and supportive environment for our students to explore their creativity.

Do you offer student discounts?
Yes, we've just introduced this. Email info@clayhands.co.za to get a coupon code before booking with a 5% student discount upon presentation of student card.
Can I catch up missed classes up?
We offer 2 catch up classes per term for students with a 10 class pass, and 1 catch up class for 5 class pass. We offer classes every night of the week and 2 mornings so there's a lot of flexibility. Catch-up classes must be used within the current term and can't be carried over.
What about load shedding?
We have an inverter that powers all 6 of our student wheels and our lights. Firings happen a little slower but the outcome of wares made in studio remains unaffected.
What's included?
We provide aprons, tea, coffee, tools and all equipment as well as clay and firing. Extensive colour slips, underglazes, access to about 15 different gorgeous dipping glazes and Amaco paint-on glazes are all included too.
Can I prebook or be added to a waiting list?
We run a responsive space and so we only open bookings for classes a month or two ahead of the term opening once we see what the demand is. We don't keep waiting lists but our site is kept up to date with available spots so check back!

OPENING HOURS
We’re open when we’re open and closed when we’ve had enough and want to go home. Contact us if you want to swing by for a studio visit (generally Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays are good for visits).
Not open for drop-in clay sessions.
